Consumers: Vodafone and T-Mobile with slow Android updates – Security … – Security.nl

Both manufacturers and telecom providers are often slow the release of updates for Android devices, which often have a limited time to be supported, to the dissatisfaction of consumers. That let the Consumers’ Association. Recently, the organization launched a campaign in which consumers could indicate that manufacturers have to support more devices with updates. The action is already supported by more than 10,000 people.

The action page let many consumers know which Android version they have on their phone. This shows the same as the study of the Consumers: the vast majority of Android phones running on an old, often unsafe, operating system version. The Consumers’ Association has been shared research with foreign organizations and looking into possibilities to pull together against manufacturers.

Consumers also complain about the slow release of updates through their providers. According to the Consumers joints providers Vodafone and T-Mobile sometimes an extra “layer” to an update, such as a preset voice mailbox number of additional apps. This takes longer for consumers with that update. The Consumers providers asked for an explanation and also urged them to a solution.
