No Android 5.0 update for more Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 – GSM Helpdesk Netherlands

The now three-year-old Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 have no updates. That the British division of Samsung announced via Twitter. Twitter gave Samsung to not like to deliver bad news, but that the company has decided not Android 5.0 Lollipop spend more for the now three year old handsets.

For a long time there was talk of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 would still go get one update and thus Android 5.0 Lollipop would be put. These rumors were received with great enthusiasm. On the other hand, the rumors were already questioned since it is not customary for a manufacturer three years after the release of a smarpthone still comes with Android updates. Usually smartphones maximum of 18 to 24 months after release “supported”.

For users of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2, there also still available alternatives. Thus it is possible for anyone who is somewhat proficient with computers and smartphones to download itself a ‘Android 5.0 ROM and install on both devices. There are even custom ROMs in circulation specifically focused on the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3.

Both devices are hardware technically still more than capable to run Android 5.0 lollipop, but because of the age of both devices and the fact that many users already have said goodbye to both smartphones is no longer profitable for Samsung to release an update for both devices.
