Today Microsoft launches the latest version of its operating system Windows 10. With this latest edition, which is now the software is updated with updates, Microsoft concentrates not only on PCs but also on smartphones and tablets.
This is necessary, because with smartphones and tablets, the computer market in the broad exploded sense (see graph). Microsoft may well be dominant in the PC market, but in the computer market in the broad sense, the group plays only a minor role.
According to Gartner, in 2014 was only 15% of the PCs, smartphones and tablets shipped with a Windows Control. Windows 10 has to change this. The system should provide a counterweight to market leader Android, owned by Google. Android was found on 1.1 million devices sold in 2014. That’s good for a market share of 48%. About 11% of the units sold was driven by Apple’s software and the rest (27%) with other operating systems, including Linux and Blackberry.
