Android smartphones remain vulnerable to serious leak – NU.nl

Stage Fright is a bug in the way Android MMS messages processed. MMS is a type of text messaging but with video, audio or photos. Android downloads that content automatically, even when it comes to an infected file. The bug could take malicious smartphones.

Researchers at cyber security company Exodus Intelligence have managed to get a smartphone patches after the crash by sending an infected video file via MMS. It is not yet clear whether the leak is also via the control may be taken over about a smartphone.



Patch

Google confirmed the leak and stated that already sent out a second patch becomes. “We already have a fix sent to our partners to protect users. The Nexus and Nexus Player 4/5/6/7/9/10 get the patch in the monthly security update in September,” so let Google know.

It is not yet clear if non-Nexus devices get the patch, but which may be rolled into the monthly security updates. They were often brought after discovering the Stage Fright bug
