Nvidia launches Shield Android TV Media Box in the Netherlands – Personal Computer Magazine

Nvidia Shield Android TV launched in the Netherlands. The media box can 4K video streaming at 60 frames per second as well games can be streamed from the cloud.

On-demand gaming made possible by GeForce NOW, a subscription service where you 9.99 euros per month to pay for. You can also try the first three months free.

There are more than 50 titles available to play them, the Shield Android TV also comes with a controller. The box lets you also stream your PC games from your PC.



Specifications

On the device itself you will find an HDMI output and an Ethernet connection, in addition to two USB ports.

Under the hood, a Tegra X1 runs processor with a 64-bit processor and a Nvidia GPU with 256 cores. According to Nvidia, the result box 34 times faster than competing media boxes.



Apps

Furthermore, the Shield runs Android TV on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, over-the-air up-to-date account. The box can be controlled using your voice, the controller or a remote control, which is sold separately. The holder lets you set up the Media Box, sold separately. Also there are already a lot of apps like Netflix, Kodi, Plex, YouTube and Google Play.



Pricing and Availability

Nvidia sells the Shield Android TV with 16GB internal storage 199 , 99 euros. The memory is expandable via Micro SD. There is also a 500GB variant of the box available for 299.99 euro
