On a conference stated the CEO of Cyanogen want to create a free Google ‘Android. This Google services are no longer central and all areas are “open” so that other, smaller parties, this may in brackets.
Anywhere open
Cyanogen has been working to develop a version of Android that really is fully open. These partners and developers can build good integrated services and services that integrate seamlessly with the corresponding OS version. A part of this is that Google would no longer central to this Android version of Cyanogen, but how this would actually have to look is not entirely clear. At present Cyanogen is still highly dependent on Google on the platform as they offer it now.
By the way, this is not entirely new, in September 2013 the company had already announced to want to make a better version of Android. For this, they have at the time 7 million won of funding.
Own appstore
It also provides Kirt McMaster, CEO of Cyanogen, that there must be an own app store within 18 months of the company. How exactly this is going to work is not quite clear whether these will not be available to the ‘regular’ user, but it would make sense if that is the case. Cyanogen, CyanogenMod known and has many more plans for the future, the only question is how Google will respond.
