Microsoft Office apps available for Android tablets – Tablets Magazine

Microsoft has announced that the Microsoft Office applications for Android tablets from now downloadable for everyone. Provided you have a device that is compatible with the software, of course.

Two months after Microsoft three Microsoft Office applications, Word, Powerpoint and Excel, for a selected number of people had been released on Android tablets, it is the time for anyone with a compatible Android tablet to get started with the software. Late last year Microsoft announced that the Office applications are now free to use on Android and iOS: you do not have Office 365 subscription no longer needed for that. This is a huge shift in the business strategy of Microsoft.

That Microsoft Office for Android tablets now available to almost everyone, does not mean that all the so-called Preview mode . Preview mode is the two-month period in which Microsoft could test Android applications with consumers. Apparently the Redmond company has collected enough feedback and dares it to release to the apps for everyone. But this could therefore there are some changes to be made – perhaps mostly behind the scenes for performance improvements

By the apps for everyone to release, Microsoft hopes more and get faster feedback within.. Only then Microsoft wants to work with the versions that really ‘finished’. The software works with most (popular) tablets of 7 and 10.1 inches, which runs on Android KitKat or lollipop. Once Microsoft Office was the largest player in the market for office applications, but with the emergence of free software, the company was actually forced to explore the free market.
