In this article you will find an overview of all planned Android 5.0 updates from major manufacturers like Samsung, LG, Sony and others.

Samsung
Samsung went like a rocket to get started with Android 5.0 for the Galaxy S5. The Korean manufacturer rolled out the update end of December already out in some countries. In the Netherlands, the update now careful to trickle. The expectation is that the update in a few weeks is available throughout the Netherlands.
Shortly thereafter, in any case also the Alpha Galaxy and Galaxy Note 4 update, Samsung’s two other recent flagships. Typically, Samsung continues its old smartphones support still quite long, so it is expected that other flagships of the past years will be updated. A complete list of all Samsung Galaxy with a planned Android 5.0, though we note thereby that the list is certainly not complete and final.
LG
Like Samsung, LG to get there early. For LG G3 Android 5.0 was already available from the end of November in Poland, and since December in the Netherlands. The update, version number V20e-DEC-03-2014, should now be available for all LG G3 owners. The LG G2, the flagship of last year, will probably still this winter received an update.
The manufacturer has not yet made known what other LG smartphones are going to get an update. A large candidate is, in any case, the LG G3 S, a compact version of the G3. We may also budget mart phones like the LG L L Bello Fino and updated, though LG has given no indication yet for that. If you are already with LG’s Android 5.0 to get started, then you can find the G Flex that 2 which will soon be for sale in the Netherlands.
Motorola
All Motorola smartphones over the past two years, years in the Netherlands appeared will be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop. Not only the Moto G and Moto X which appeared in 2014, but also the first versions of the Moto Moto X and G are updated from 2013. Also the cheap Moto E is very likely in the course of 2015 an update.
It remains to be seen when the updates now finally appear. When the end of 2013. Android 4.4 was released Motorola quick. Shortly after the launch of KitKat virtually all new smartphones from the manufacturer were updated. This year, Motorola seems to need more time. Although there are “soak” tests are performed, an early version of the update was sent to a number of random users, there is no question of a global rollout.
Employees Motorola have indicated that they encounter many bugs calls at Lollipop in the development of the update, and it takes more time to get everything in order. We probably do not have to wait too long: the manufacturer hopes the end of January or beginning of February, the update to roll out
HTC
With the introduction of. HTC Android 5.0 was already known that the update for the One (M8) would deploy within 90 days. That seems to have worked: a few weeks before the deadline HTC recently rolled a One (M8) Android 5.0 update in the United States. Other countries are likely within a few weeks to turn.

HTC has not yet released information about its further update plans. Fortunately, such information has already been leaked, and it seems that the manufacturer a lot of smartphones are going to update the coming months. Not only high end smartphones like the HTC Desire Eye can expect an update, but also a lot older and cheaper devices. The list has not been confirmed by HTC, but it would not surprise us if the following is true list.

The Taiwanese manufacturer has another more update plans for next year. HTC’s own Sense interface, which is likely in early March, a new version will be unveiled at the same time with the One (M9). Sense 7 will be rolled out later in the year for almost all HTC devices in the above list.
Sony
Sony knew our final positive surprise last year to announce that all smartphones Xperia Z series will get an update. That means that even the now more than three years Xperia S still updated. Or recent mid-end smartphones, such as the Sony Xperia M2, can expect an update is not yet known. The complete list of Sony smartphones with Android 5.0:
While other manufacturers in any case have already updated their flagship, Sony still keep a little quiet. The Xperia Z3 has still not received an update, and when that update comes, we still do not know. The expectation is that this still happened this spring, and that while the Z3 Compact Android 5.0 update appears. Sony’s other smart phones will follow in the course of the year.
Huawei
Almost every manufacturer that wants to be taken seriously brings Android updates for its smartphones. Want to keep your flagship popular, then you should report new software. Huawei pulls it so far not care. The Chinese manufacturer released early 2014 an Android 4.4 update for the Ascend P6, but since then we have not seen.
In November, the company promised still the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 is an update to Android 5.0 would get, but smartphone has never appeared in the Netherlands. On another manufacturer would you expect the successor, in this case the Ascend Mate 7 also gets an update. Huawei keeps the jaws however lipped means the manufacturer has made no plans known. Possibly it is no silence for the update storm, but a permanent silence: the risk that Huawei this year older smartphones does not provide great updates
Moreover, Huawei Ascend P7 and G6 4G not completely forgotten.. End of last year the news that Huawei will update its own EmotionUI on these smartphones to version 3.0. That is still the latest version of this software, but it is based on Android 4.4. Yet no sign of a sneaky Android 5.0 update so.
What is Android 5.0 Lollipop?
Android 5.0 is the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system. Lollipop was first shown to the summer of 2014, and since November last year available to manufacturers. The biggest new feature of Android 5.0 is Material Design, a new look for Android. Google apps have used in the new design more colors and the search giant more planes with pastel colors.
One feature that has long been on the wish list of many Android users is the ability to display notifications on your lockscreen . You can see now what emails, and WhatsAppjes and other messages you have received while your phone was on standby, without having to unlock your smartphone.
In addition, Google performs several improvements behind the scenes . So Android is moving to ART, a new runtime. That means that applications are carried out in a different manner within the operating system. As a consequence, some apps just have to run faster and smoother. Google has also made improvements that include increase battery life, improve your privacy and increase performance.
Why take updates so long?
Lollipop Android 5.0 was released in early November, but a few months later, the new software is still to be found just a small part of all smartphones back. That does not mean that manufacturers are lazy: it should be just a lot of work before the update works with any smartphone
The version of Android 5.0 that Google released has been optimized for Nexus smartphones, but not before. the hundreds of other Android phones that appear every year. Before Samsung releases Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 update, the software must be fully optimized for the hardware of that extension. The underlying drivers and other software must
The next step is the integration of the new Android with any own interface. Samsung uses TouchWiz UI for the Galaxy S5, and the extra software layer must also fit within Android 5.0. The design has to be adapted in order to incorporate new functionalities, for example. Some tech buffs will recall that they prefer a “stock” version seen in an Android update, without Samsung’s additional software. The average user, however, would have a lot of trouble if after installing the update, everything suddenly looks different.
Finally, the update must still be approved by the provider. At least, if you have purchased your smartphone directly from your provider. At this stage looks provider or device after the update still works well with its own network, and the included apps are updated. Is your smartphone ‘unbranded’, without approval from the provider, you do not have to wait for that approval and the update can usually all that before rolling out.
Why is my update there yet?
Would you smartphone the above table have been updated, but you got there about still not received notification? That can happen unfortunately. Updates will be gradually rolled out worldwide, from country to country and provider to provider. It can take weeks or even months before an update is available worldwide. This prevents the server from a manufacturer not get equal overloaded. And if problems arise in one country, then they can be out there yet to be met before other countries receive the update.
How to rollout proceeds worldwide is difficult to say. Sometimes an update for example, already available in neighboring countries, and to German, French and British owners of a smartphone already started with Android 5.0 while you’re still waiting. Very occasionally, an update will be announced, but he appears for unknown reasons ultimately never in the Netherlands. Eventually, so there is nothing to do but wait, wait and wait another.
Why will not my smartphone Android 5.0 update?
Is your Android smartphone is not in the above list? Then you do not hit directly concerned. Some manufacturers have not yet announced their complete plans, so the chances are that your update will follow at a later date. You have bought a high-end smartphone from 2013 or 2014, then the chances are that your device ends up on the list.
Wash your device a cheap smartphone, then you probably fall by the wayside. Cheap smartphones, especially older models, usually rarely receive an update. The profit margin on such a device is much smaller, and then it is quite expensive to to continuously develop new software. Moreover, many manufacturers will assume that the owners of budget mart phones less attention to the Android version.
Even if it seems that you are definitely not going to get Android 5.0 update that is no reason for panic. Google does nowadays everything to you not to let too many fall by the wayside. Many new features and functions are in fact not part of the underlying Android software, but Google Play Services, a special interlayer. This is on almost any Android smartphone and can be updated by Google.
So revamped Google recently the design of the Play Store on all Android smartphones without users there myself had to do something. This was done through the Google Play Services. Other elements of the interface can be renewed without the deployment of a “big” update. In addition, you also have your ‘old’ Android version even just access to the Play Store and the updates for apps that appear there. Even without Lollipop miss you so very little.
