Cyanogen is working on a financing round which the company can come up with a value of certainly $ 500 million. Microsoft would consider a minority interest.
Microsoft would consider an investment in Cyanogen and a commercial partnership. The companies would currently negotiating the terms.
Android is a so-called open source project that programmers themselves can modify and add components. It is however difficult for phone manufacturers to use the software without support from Google. So manufacturers must meet several requirements in order to give users access to the Google Play store.
Microsoft complained in the past that Google programs are blocked on Android. The software is an Android version of Google without interference whatsoever when called.
