Flixtor: Popcorn Time-alternative now available for Android – Android Planet

Flixtor is a video streaming service that is strongly reminiscent of Popcorn Time. The service was used for a while on the PC and Mac, but is now also available as an app for Android.

is Flixtor best described as an alternative to Popcorn Time. The app has therefore clearly inspired by the popular video streaming service, because they have much in common. Flixtor so makes like Popcorn Time using torrents, making it easy to stream the latest movies and TV shows to your Android smartphone. However, this is illegal, whatever the use of Flixtor is illegal. Furthermore, the interface of the app reminds strongly Popcorn Time, which means that the supply of movies and series is presented on a Netflix-like fashion.

Flixtor works with a built-in video, who besides playing of content also can display subtitles. Standard supports over 30 different languages, including Dutch. There is also the option to use an external player like MX Player or VLC app from Google Play.

It is great the ability to stream movies and series to Chromecast so you’re not tied are on the small screen of your smartphone. This feature works in a similar way as Popcorn Time.

Greater demand and improved functionality by comeback

Flixtor previously worked with private torrent search engine called TorrentLookup. This was – as the service itself – in June 2014 by the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of Canada) taken offline, but several months later Flixtor returned. In the meantime, the video streaming service has become much better, mainly because of the addition of useful features. There is implemented an improved search engine, with an increased supply. Also, the ability to play movies and series added in hd.

Flixtor is not found in Google Play, but you need to install from this link as a separate apk file on your Android device. How to do it, read our tip to install apk files. Moreover, make sure that you have to install on Android 4.0.4 or higher.

Finally, we stress that the app still in beta and so is not yet complete. So fear not if you encounter crazy glitches or other problems. However, the makers of Flixtor say hard work on the app, and him wanting to soon provide bug fixes and new features.
