86.2% of turns in Q2 selling smartphones on Android – Hardware.Info

The German statistics office statista has published figures of smartphone sales worldwide. It is the figures for actual sales, not the number of shipped phones which can sometimes give a distorted picture. According to the figures Android has past quarter again a growth in market share.

Of the slightly more than 344 million units shipped, turned about 297 million devices on Android. The market share would be thus increased to 86.2% in actual sales, according statista. In Q2 2014 Android had a share of 83.8% and a year thereafter 82.23%. With a dip between Android now growing again. Apple had a quarter share of 12.9%. Remarkably, it was in Q2 2015 14.56%, but in quarter two of 2014 only 12.17%.

It should be noted that sales of Android per quarter are more stable than those of competitor Apple. There are a lot of Android devices on the market and each at a different time. This makes the sales in different quarters varies less. Apple on the other hand brings settled in September a new model, making sales around Q2 to Q3 which collapse. Q4 and Q1 of the year after increasing sales again, resulting in comparison a somewhat distorted picture. It can therefore be considered to better share of sales within a year.

In this regard are to interpret the different figures. The whole of 2014 Android had a share of 80.7% and Apple’s 15.38%. In 2015 it was 81.6% and 15.88% respectively. As for 2015 compared to 2014, we see that the share of Android, although greater than that of Apple, has increased by 1.12%. The proportion of Apple’s sales grew by 3.25% during the same period.

Of course, the year 2016 figures are not yet known, so the question is how it will relate.
