Last night Google announced the new Android version, 6.0, Marshmallow, starting next week will be available for Nexus devices. We make a list of what seven renewals make the update worthwhile.

1. Manage app permissions

No doubt the feature that most users are looking for, is the ability to manage application permissions in Android Marshmallow. No longer do you have to go anywhere but agree with using an app; From now you can decide to which an application can access. If you install an app, then you simply do not agree with all the permissions, but do you know each app the permissions when an application needs it.

Will Facebook access to your location or your contacts? Then the app first inquires and you must give explicit permission. In the App list of Android Marshmallow watch you every app permissions and you can possibly access your location, microphone deny on camera. However, it is up to developers to optimize their apps for this, since the withdrawal of permissions still can lead to crashes

So you can through Google Now on Tap pressing a second on the home button to get instant additional information about what is on your screen to see. The new Android version not only keeps track of the apps you have installed on your device, so you can easily install again when you log in to another device, but can also app -data stored in Google Drive. You can set automatic backups for your favorite apps, whereby each app is a limit of 25MB. However, the backups relish nothing of the available storage you have in Google Drive. The backups are encrypted stored.

It is good to know that app-data only is saved when the device is not in use and connected to wifi. You do not have to worry about backing up will affect your battery life or data bundle. Exchange can restore to a different smartphone or tablet, you can easily complete apps, even if they are installed outside of Google Play.

4. Longer battery life thanks Doze

Marshmallow also introduces the technology Doze, who works with the sensors on your smartphone and tablet. If they recognize that an appliance for a longer period of time on the table is, Doze is turned on. As a user, you do not direct what notice, but for manufacturers, it is convenient that the new Android version natively supports USB c and fingerprint scanners. This was already known and it is therefore not surprising that the Nexus and Nexus 5X 6P – Googles Android Marshmallow reference devices – both feature a USB-C port and a fingerprint scanner.
